Rhetor - Alfred Eisenstaedt, German-American photographer and photojournalist, most famous for his photo of a sailor and a nurse kissing on V-J Day, other photographs of notable people and celebrities, and his use of a 35mm Leica rangefinder camera. His photos published in Life magazine helped define American photojournalism.
Audience - 1944, United States. The female audience would have probably sympathized with the female in the photo, as most men were shipping off to war.
Text - The fact that there are no faces for the couple in this shot seems to make it an open photo for the audience. That couple could be any couple in the US-- a county over, just next door, or even yourself.

Alfred Eisenstaedt, 1944
I have yet to find the true title of these photos, so I'm just calling the pair "Couples saying goodbye at Penn Station" for now, since they are two of many Eisenstaedt photos of soldiers saying their farewells to their significant others at Penn Station. I chose these photos over the other kissing photos because they appear to be the most natural. One doesn't merely kiss their soldier as he leaves-- there is a great deal of emotion, crying, et cetera, and I felt that these photos captured it perfectly.
